Sugrue South Downs Rosé Ex Machina 2016
Hampshire, England, 75cl
Sugrue South Downs Rosé Ex Machina 2016 is a glorious new release from Dermot. Composed of a blend of 50% Pinot Noir, 20% Pinot Meunier and 30% Chardonnay, Dermot Sugrue has shown has weaved his magic yet again in 2016, even though he had no grapes! The tanks were empty but then, in Dermot's own words, "the God's intervened" with the perfectly ripened grapes from Jenkyn Vineyard that enables him to make this wine. As you can imagine, this perfectly mature, serious gastronomic rosé is stunning, just like all the Sugrue South Downs wines. If you can resist the temptation now, Sugrue South Downs Rosé Ex Machina 2016 will be one to watch evolve for many years to come... though it's hard to resist now. 4500 bottles produced.
"Both orange peel and Red Delicious apple figure on the nose, alongside a subtle hint of fresh Viennoiserie that turns into shortcrust with more air. The palate strikes immediately with its effortlessness: there is that lovely balance between juicy freshness and mellow ripeness that you get in red apples. The slender body fizzes away with tiniest bubbles, lending creaminess and gentleness, expressing serenity, beauty and depth. Very elegant, lovely now, certain to evolve into a grandiose and gastronomic rosé." - 95 Pts, Anne Krebiehl MW
